An Honest Look at The Modern Christian Worship Music Phenomenon

An Honest Look at The Modern Christian Worship Music PhenomenonLet’s take an honest look at the modern Christian worship music phenomenon. This is something I’ve intended to write about for a while now. But today I finally took the time to do it.

I am a music fanatic. I want to be very clear about that right up front. You might even call me a music freak. I have loved music for as long as I can remember.

Even as a child, I remember my parents playing music a lot. We were not Christians at that time. My parents listened to secular music, so that was what titillated my musical taste buds. It gave me a diverse taste in musical styles and genres.

Country music, rock & roll and more…

Country music greats, such as Tammy Wynette & George Jones were frequent players. The very early years of Rod Stewart, The Beatles, Johnny Cash and others would play frequently. I was 7 or 8 years old at the time.

My parents listened to Elvis Presley frequently. And then came Continue reading

Understanding Biblical Fasting

Understanding Biblical Fasting

Understanding Biblical FastingAfter writing a Bible Verse of The Day message about understanding Biblical fasting, we had many emails asking us for more information about it.

Fasting is something that we can do when we are up against a situation that doesn’t seem to be changing.

Sometimes we fast for a breakthrough in one way or another. Jesus taught us that fasting is required in order to drive out some demons. Those that were deeply rooted required more than just a quick word to cast them out.

Here’s an example where His disciples had tried to cast out a demon, but it refused to leave.

Mark 9:25-29 (NKJV) 25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” 26 Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. 28 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” 29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

Fasting breaks some things within us because Continue reading

Christians and Debt

Christians and Debt

What does the Bible say about Christians and debt? Let’s take a look, and then we’ll dig in and discuss how debt affects the lives of believers on a daily basis.

Christians and debtProverbs 22:7New King James Version (NKJV) 7 The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.

What is debt? In its most basic form, debt is a type of slavery. It is financial bondage.

You borrow money from a lender. As part of the deal, you sign an agreement to repay the lender the sum you borrowed. You must also pay the agree-upon interest charges.

So when you pay the debt in full, you’ve paid back much more than you originally borrowed. Sometimes the amount paid back can be astronomical when compared to the original amount borrowed.

The moment you sign a loan agreement, you’re in bondage Continue reading
